Senior Powertrain Function Developer

Smart Village, Egypt

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Powertrain Function Developer to join our team. In this role, you will develop and test control functions for powertrains (engine systems) in internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EVs), and hybrid vehicles. You will use MATLAB/Simulink to create and simulate control algorithms that improve energy management, efficiency, performance, and emissions. Additionally, you will validate these functions through various testing methods like HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) and real-time simulations to ensure their reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

  •   Develop, simulate, and validate powertrain control functions using MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design (MBD)
  • Design and implement algorithms for energy management, efficiency, performance, and emissions control for ICE, EV, and hybrid powertrains
  • Develop and execute HiL test cases to validate powertrain functions and diagnose system behaviors
  • Perform real-time simulations and MiL/SiL/HiL testing for control software validation
  • Work closely with calibration engineers to optimize control strategies in real-world driving conditions
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 (functional safety) and ASPICE software development standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and testing teams, to integrate powertrain functions into vehicle control units

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or Software Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in powertrain function development within the automotive industry
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Model-Based Design (MBD)
  • Hands-on experience with HiL systems and real-time simulation environments
  • Knowledge of MiL, SiL, and HiL testing methodologies
  • Experience with powertrain control strategies for ICE, EV, and hybrid platforms
  • Understanding of ISO 26262 (functional safety) and ASPICE standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with CAN, LIN, and automotive communication protocols
  • Familiarity with Embedded C and software development for automotive applications
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and thermal management systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and collaboration with internal and external teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
