Smart Village, Egypt

Job Summary:

EVRaid is seeking a highly skilled Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) Function Developer to contribute to the development of advanced powertrain control strategies for hybrid and range-extended electric vehicles. The ideal candidate will focus on ICE modeling, control algorithm development, and real-time implementation to optimize performance, efficiency, and emissions compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize ICE control algorithms for hybrid powertrains, including torque demand handling, fuel injection, ignition timing, and thermal management
  • Design and implement engine start/stop, transient response, and fuel efficiency optimization functions
  • Ensure compliance with emissions regulations through after-treatment system integration
  • Develop and validate model-based control functions using  MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and Embedded C
  • Implement real-time control software on AUTOSAR-compliant ECU platforms
  • Perform MiL, SiL, and HiL testing to validate control strategies before vehicle deployment
  • Work closely with powertrain engineers, calibration teams, and vehicle integration teams to ensure seamless operation
  • Conduct dyno-based and on-road validation for control strategy refinement
  • Optimize engine efficiency and emissions under various operating conditions
  • Implement OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) strategies for fault detection and compliance with global emissions regulations
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in ICE function development and powertrain control
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and Embedded C for model-based software development
  • Experience with ECU development, calibration tools (INCA, ATI Vision, or ETAS INCA), and CAN communication protocols (CANalyzer, CANoe, or XCP/CCP)
  • Hands-on experience with MiL, SiL, and HiL testing environments
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, combustion processes, and emissions control strategies
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and OBD diagnostics

Nice to have

  • Experience with AUTOSAR architecture and embedded software development
  • Understanding of hybrid powertrain architectures and energy management strategies
  • Familiarity with alternative fuels and advanced combustion concepts
