Hardware Design Engineer-Internship

Smart Village, Egypt

As a Junior Engineer, you will play an essential role in the design, development, and testing of motor drivers. This position focuses on embedded systems design and power electronics, including PCB design and power stage development. A strong foundation in power electronics and hardware design is crucial for this role

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate power electronics circuits for motor drivers, including MOSFET/IGBT gate drivers, inverters, and DC-DC converters
  • Select appropriate components (MOSFETs, capacitors, inductors, etc.) for power stages
  • Collaborate with the team to optimize power efficiency and minimize losses
  • Design and layout PCBs for BLDC motor drivers using tools like Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle
  • Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC standards and best practices for high-speed and high-power PCB design
  • Prototype and test PCB designs, identifying and resolving issues
  • Validate motor control algorithms and power electronics designs in real-world scenarios
  • Document test results and provide recommendations for improvements

Must Have

  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (STM32, other ..)
  • Knowledge of motor control techniques (FOC, six-step commutation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with power electronics design (inverters, gate drivers, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit design
  • Familiarity with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers)
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC considerations in power electronics design
