Battery Pack Assembly Engineer

We are seeking a Battery Pack Assembly Engineer to oversee the assembly and integration of battery packs for electric vehicles. This role focuses on the hands-on assembly, testing, and validation of battery systems, working closely with engineers across different disciplines to ensure the delivery of high-quality and reliable battery solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in assembling battery packs and a solid understanding of battery safety protocols  

Responsibilities

  • Lead the assembly of electric vehicle battery packs, including cell integration, module assembly, and final pack integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and thermal engineers to ensure the battery pack design meets performance, safety, and reliability requirements 
  • Oversee battery module and pack level testing, ensuring systems are fully functional and meet design specifications 
  • Perform troubleshooting and quality checks throughout the assembly process to identify and address any issues 
  • Ensure proper handling and safety practices are followed during the assembly of high-voltage battery systems 
  • Maintain documentation and records of the assembly process, including parts lists, assembly instructions, and test results 
  • Support battery pack validation and certification processes according to industry standards 
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure components meet quality and performance requirements 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize assembly processes and reduce production time and costs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in battery pack assembly, preferably for electric vehicles or energy storage systems 
  • Strong hands-on experience with battery pack assembly, including cell and module assembly techniques 
  • Familiarity with different battery chemistries such as lithium-ion or sodium-ion, and their assembly considerations 
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for handling high-voltage systems and experience with battery testing and validation 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructions 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience with tools and equipment used in battery assembly, including welding, bolting, and bonding

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS) and integration into battery packs
  • Experience in battery thermal management systems and cooling technologies 
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations for electric vehicles 
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices
